We can see how incomplete the US military mapping was of this area.

Subject: Location of Mt. Alzapan, Philippines

Hello,

I’m trying to assist a graduate student who is looking for the latitude and longitude of an obscure mountain in the Philippines called Mt. Alzapan (possibly spelled Alsapan). It is located on Luzon around the provinces of Nueva Vizcaya or Quirino. He believes that it should be between 1,000 and 2,000 meters tall. It is referenced in a couple of botanical journals, but I have not been able to find it using our maps, gazetteers (we are missing the 1st volume of our Philippine Board on Geographic Names Gazetteer), or  a lengthy Google search. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jason
