Reporting to the Head of the Cataloging & Metadata Unit in the Cataloging & Database Integrity Department, the Maps Cataloging Specialist is responsible for description, subject analysis, and classification of items in the Gwen Curtis Maps Collection housed in the Science/Engineering Library. Additional responsibilities include preservation of the collection, collection development, assisting with reference needs related to the collection, and maintaining one or more research guides.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Head of the Cataloging & Metadata Unit in the Cataloging & Database Integrity Department, the Maps Cataloging Specialist is responsible for description, subject analysis, and classification of items in the Gwen Curtis Maps Collection housed in the Science/Engineering Library. Additional responsibilities include preservation of the collection, collection development, assisting with reference needs related to the collection, and maintaining one or more research guides.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Experience with an integrated library system, prefer Alma/Primo; experience with OCLC; ability to read and interpret technical aspects of maps; and prefer experience with Map Cataloging.

Preferred Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree and 3 years relevant library experience.
