We cataloged our "fairly" large collection of Newsmaps a few years ago and yes, used the UNT collection for guidance too. Thanks for sharing what you found Linda!

Subject: World War II Newsmaps

Hello,

In working my way through our collection, I have discovered some World War II Newsmaps. If you are not aware of it, the University of North Texas has a collection of them scanned and available online: https://digital.library.unt.edu/explore/collections/NMAP/<https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdigital.library.unt.edu%2Fexplore%2Fcollections%2FNMAP%2F&data=02%7C01%7Cpga2%40psu.edu%7C873fcb269cba485d124908d6b4515768%7C7cf48d453ddb4389a9c1c115526eb52e%7C0%7C0%7C636894658784983616&sdata=cWdnLbCF5AMP4UkpuK3n30KmAd2iHjNGPBgrwhuyp2E%3D&reserved=0>.

If you have some of these in your collections, you might want to check them against the ones at UNT. It turns out that the two I have found so far are not exactly the same as the ones at UNT--the maps are different.

Surprisingly, they are printed on paper that seems to have held up over the years. Linda Zellmer

P.S. I am having our copies scanned so that I can share the digital files with UNT.
