Dear Collective Wisdom,

1) The OIT library has multiple Mylar maps within a special collection of varying sizes and would like to know how others have handled the storage and/or access for these items? Should there be something between them if stored in a metal map cabinet? We will be cataloging these mylar maps.

2) The University Archives has architectural drawings on ½' thick boards and we would like to know has anyone placed individual boards in a mylar or polyester covering to place more than one to a box or used archival tissue between the drawings? How have you handled these?

I have looked at acid free 20 pt. paper folders from Gaylord and mylar sleeves from Bags Unlimited They will make custom mylar sleeves. Gaylord map box sizes do not fit many of the drawings. I believe that they will also make custom boxes. We do not need 10 of each of anything. We are a small archives.

Thank you for your responses or you may email me directly?
