We were switching over to Drupal this past weekend and apparently there was a glitch, they're still working on getting the directory
exceptions in place so we can use GNIS again. We hope it will be soon.
The new link to the main website will be: https://usgs.gov/geonames and
you will be able to get to the GNIS and other information from there.

Subject: GNIS from the U.S. Board of Geographic Names taken down?
We’re scratching our heads over here as to the whereabouts of the Geographic Names Information System.
Today the link “Search Domestic Names” goes around in a circle back to the U.S. Board on Geographic Names website.

Does anybody know anything about this? We rely heavily on it for names authority.
