Hello,

There are three proposals and two discussion papers on the agenda for the
ALA Annual Conference. I've put the one that has direct geographic content
first.

Discussion Paper 2019-DP04 also comes from the German National Library and
explores the advisability of adding $g (Miscellaneous information) to Field
751 (Added Entry - Geographic Name) of the Bibliographic format. This would
match up with the 151 Field (Heading - Geographic Name) in the Authorities
format.

Proposal 2019-04 would add a value 6 to Field 008/06 to indicate that the
online content is being accessed through a third party platform and would
change the label of 008/06 to Receipt, acquisition, or access status in the
Holdings format.

Proposal 2019-05 seeks to add additional subfields to Field 041 (Language
Code) in the Bibliographic format to specify language codes for intertitles
($i) and accompanying transcripts for audiovisual materials ($t).
Currently, intertitles are coded with subtitles which is misleading. More
streaming video services are providing transcripts and providing a code for
these resources would be beneficial.

Proposal 2019-06 would add Field 670 to the Bibliographic format that would
be used for subject added entries where the type of entity is unspecified.
This comes from the German National Library and in Germany there are
subject thesauri that don't provide what type of entity the term
represents. Field 653 (Index Term - Uncontrolled) does not apply since
these terms are controlled.

Discussion Paper 2019-DP05 investigates adding $0 to Fields 310, 321, and
521 in the Bibliographic format. Adding $0 would allow the recording of the
authority record control number or standard identifier to these fields that
often have standard terms and makes crosswalking between MARC and BIBFRAME
easier.

If you have any comments on any of these, please let me know.
