Hi,

We were contacted about a company liquidating it's aerial photo holdings. They were asking what to do. This is a really neat opportunity for an institution in the NY, NJ, CT area. The main goals is to keep these out of the dumpster!

Penn State would be interested but there are only a few photos in PA.

The collection is 160 rolls of 9x9" photos of really low altitude photos.

Time is of the essence!!!! She needs to vacate the office by the end of the week.

Please contact her directly and copy us.

Please help keep this out of the dumpster!!!

Subject: aerial photography library

Hi Heather:

I appreciate your help in trying to find this library a new home.

A little bit about the library:

  1. The library spans from the late 70's to approximately 2013.
  2. There are about 160 (plus) rolls of film. Some of the rolls are full to the brim, some are not.
  3. These are rolls of 9" negatives. Most of it was used for mapping. Although there are a few obliques and pinpoints of various landmarks (ie: Statue of Liberty, Twin Towers, various airports).
  4. Most of the library is color, some black and white. One small job was infrared.
  5. Sometimes we flew what we called "stock photography". For example in the year 2000 we flew all of Long Island, NYC and it's boroughs, parts of Connecticut and parts of New Jersey...Large tracts of land flown in consecutive ordered flight lines.
  6. I have a digital spreadsheet of the rolls and the general vicinity they cover (see attachment). The spreadsheet was built based on the joblist of the company from whom we purchased the first 150 rolls (plus or minus). ONLY THE JOBS WITH ROLL NUMBERS HAVE CORRESPONDING PHOTOGRAPHY.
  7. The first 35 rolls have information cards (picture also attached). There are about 80 flight maps that can be correlated to some of the rolls.

Thanks again for your help Heather. If you know anyone that might be interested, please have them give me a call. The library is currently housed in my Setauket office. As discussed, I am moving from this office on March 1st and cannot take the library with me.

Sincerely,

Anne Papazissimos
