·         Learning Outcomes: Informal and formal library instruction sessions for physical sciences can be more fascinating to non-scientists and scientists by incorporating freely available Government sources from art libraries, art museums, and other art collections into education and outreach presentations. The objective of a science librarian can be to guide a library user through the library landscape of books, journals, data, and newspapers, but can also be extended into other areas such as photography, paintings, and sculptures to describe, relate, or unify the humanities with science. Photographs, paintings, and sculptures are created by using chemical reactions and natural resources, and can also capture the Earth's landscape, visually revealing the geology and environment of that moment in time. This webinar will demonstrate how to integrate freely available online art collections from the Library of Congress, Smithsonian, U.S. Geological Survey, Department of the Interior, and the Princeton University Art Museum into library instruction and research consultations for chemistry, geosciences, and environmental studies.
