Survey on changing nature of cataloguing librarian roles
Hello,
My
name is Haiyun Cao, the Metadata, Discovery & Access Librarian at York University Libraries in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. My colleague, Marcia Salmon and I would like to conduct a survey for our research project: Changing nature of cataloguing librarian roles
in academic libraries.
The
shifting research and scholarly landscape, the transformation in higher education, and advances in technology have been reshaping the profession of cataloguing librarianship in academic settings. There has been a trend in the cataloguing community that cataloguers
are transforming their roles from traditional cataloguing into metadata services. Both Marcia and I have been experiencing the transition, therefore, we would like to conduct a survey of cataloguing librarians working in academic libraries to explore emerging
roles in metadata services.
The
