We use this in all of our rare materials records.
It is supposed to correspond to am approved geographical heading.
We have never used it with a $2.

Is subfield $2 mandatory for field 752? MARC21 doesn’t say so and provides examples both with and without. OCLC Bib Formats, on the other hand, states that it’s required if applicable, and almost all the examples include a subfield $2. I don’t recall seeing it in actual use.
