Director, Royal Geographical Society of South Australia (RGSSA)

RGSSA is offering an exciting opportunity for a foundation Director.

It is a significant appointment for our organisation, which has been entirely volunteer run since 1885. As part of our strategic vision, RGSSA seeks to take our organisation to a new level of professionalism, with a view to future growth. We have a collection of more than 26,000 items, including some of the oldest and rarest books and maps in the world, worth many millions of dollars. We conduct regular lectures, field trips and produce a range of unique publications. We recognise the state’s best Geographers through an annual awards program.

Our new Director will have a vision for how we will unlock the potential of this unique organisation, raise its profile and encourage future growth. Our new Director will develop strategies to share our treasures more broadly with the public, attract sponsorship and build professional connections. Our Director will also play a pivotal role in helping coordinate and oversee the work of our volunteers in their day-to-day Society activities.

Initially RGSSA seeks a Director on a part time basis for 12 months, but with a view to expand the role in future.

If you are an outstanding and proven leader, with a passion to help grow our unique Society, then this is an exciting new position for you to consider.

Position details are set out on the Society's website at: https://rgssa.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/RGSSA-Director-Role.pdf
