Call for CAPC Members and Associate Members

OLAC’s Cataloging Policy Committee (CAPC) is seeking applicants for full member and associate member positions with terms beginning July 2023. Members serve two-year terms with possibility of reappointment to a second two-year term. Associate members serve one-year terms with possibility of reappointment to a second one-year term.


CAPC is also seeking a new junior co-chair to serve alongside the incoming senior co-chair. Co-chairs shall be appointed by the Executive Board for a two-year term with the possibility of reappointment.



Member qualifications are as follows:



  *   Three years of current audiovisual cataloging experience or the equivalent
  *   Membership in OLAC
  *   Evidence of regular interaction with online cataloging systems or demonstrable knowledge of such systems.
  *   CAPC business is conducted during winter and summer membership meetings and electronically between meetings.


Associate member qualifications are as follows:

  *   An interest in AV cataloging and the willingness to help out with CAPC projects.


Additional responsibilities of the CAPC junior co-chair are as follows:

  *   CAPC chair or co-chairs set(s) the agenda of the Committee, appoint(s) task force chairs, oversee(s) the progress of task forces, and are responsible for presiding over the meetings of the Cataloging Policy Committee.

Applications will be reviewed by CAPC co-chairs throughout March and approved by the OLAC Board in early April. All applicants will be notified of the Board’s decisions.
