I’ve had similar problems with it for some time; I cannot get the Geographic Names Search page to load at all. I hoped it was a temporary problem that would be fixed but clearly not. I’m not in the
US, but I don’t think that makes a difference – it always used to be available internationally on the older version of the website.
Just today I sent a request for help through the contact form on the website. If I get any useful advice I’ll share it, and if anyone else has any useful advice I’d be happy to hear it!

Subject: GNIS geographic names search for foreign places
Is anyone else struggling to search for official US geographic names for foreign places? I keep getting spun in circles, I get to the web app
but it won't load or I get an "unresponsive" message following a search. Does anyone have a link that works? Is it possible to load the app without the map? I only need summaries - official and variant place names.
Help!
