----------------------------Original message---------------------------- The UCSB Map & Imagery Lab has cases 3 high, and is located on the ground floor of the library; the person in charge of facilities - when I asked him whether they should be bolted down, he said no, that they "weren't going anywhere." This is on the basis of this library surviving nicely a 5.something earthquake about ten years ago, with no sliding. The drawers in the map cases at Stanford (which are on the 2nd floor) definitely went somewhere. But SOP in the UC system is that anything taller than 42" (except human beings) needs to be security- braced. Mary Larsgaard
