         RE: landhook

A "Landhook" is a symbol used on cadastral maps to indicate common
ownership of two parcels of land. These parcels maybe separated by a
natural feature like a road or a river. The symbol looks kind of like
a "Z" which is stretched from top to bottom, but may appear in any
orientation. .

In my earlier reply, I ended with "... in any orientation." I should have
said "usually perpendicular to the feature it's crossing."

Sorry, my fingers got ahead of my brain.

Jenny,
Try your local land tax accessors maps. Yes, your correct, they are
used as "links" amoung disjointed parcels... There are "double hooks"
that perform a symbolization function to join parcels of the same
subdivision that have over time become seperated...

The things you learn dizitizing!!!
