----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Chris and Greg: I strongly disagree that GIS software is likely to require lots of handholding. Most folks can operate a vending machine today. Street Atlas USA Version 2 is no more difficult. I was able to print out several maps and exhaust a tour thru the features without ever reading a manual and only a couple of quick glances at the help. You can see from this product that one with greatly increased functionality need not be harder to use. I will agree that lots of products are hard to use, but that does not mean they have to be. Just that we need to insist on easy-to-use products for casual users. Dave Gomberg, role model for those who don't ask much in their fantasy lives.
