In particular, he continues his work towards a cartobibliography (now complete to 1775) and to examine the relationships between spoken language and the language of maps. He has recently begun to investigate the use of maps in native- white legal contexts. Involvement as co-editor with David Woodward in editing the volume on traditional cartography in The History of Cartography series is causing him to extend his interests beyond North America. Malcolm Lewis continues to welcome information and requests relating to his interest.
