A patron is interested in the origin of the name "Maycocks Point,"
a cape in Virginia. It's at 37 18 N, 77 08 56 W, and is on the
Westover, VA 7.5" quad. We found in the index of A HISTORICAL
ATLAS OF COLONIAL VIRGINIA by John S. Hale that there was a
Maycock Plantation in that area, shown on Plate 3, "A Map of
the Virginia Colony 1607-1624."

The patron wants to know when, and for whom or what, the cape was
named. Can someone who has more information about Virginia place
names please help? Thanks.
