----------------------------Original message---------------------------- For some time we've been putting ordinary office labels on a lower corner of the mylar enclosing certain encapsulated maps (the labels contain a call number or filing location, or information on accompanying or related texts). Our preservation officer has quite reasonably pointed out that this probably isn't a great idea but has also admitted she isn't quite sure what else to use. Can anyone help? Is there some sort of modern conservation-quality label or tape available that will stay stuck to mylar more or less indefinitely without giving off any chemicals likely to damage the contents of the mylar envelope? I'd be very grateful for advice. Thanks! Chris Winters University of Chicago Library Bitnet: uclwint@uchimvs1 Internet: [log in to unmask]
