The Indiana Historical Society has established a presence on the Internet
through an IHS home page on the World Wide Web, the Society announced recently.

The IHS home page offers information on the Society's collections,
exhibitions, publications and other activities. Those with access to the WWW
can, through the page, schedule different IHS traveling exhibitions, read
samples from the current issue of the Society's popular history magazine,
Traces of Indiana and Midwestern History, or learn more about the various
collections in the institution's William Henry Smith Memorial Library. The
URL for the IHS home page is: http://www.spcc.com/ihsw/ihs.html.

The Society home page is a cooperative venture between the IHS and Shepard
Poorman Communications Corporation of Indianapolis. Shepard Poorman, which
is a full service print communications company, is acting as the server for
the IHS home page. The URL for Shepard Poorman's home page is:
http://www.spcc.com.

For more information on the Society's WWW effort, contact Ray Boomhower, IHS
public relations coordinator, at (317) 232-1877, FAX (317) 233-3109, or
