I know they have Knoxville and Memphis, but I'm not sure that they have Nashville. They do, however, specialize in historic reproductions. You can receive a catalog by writing or calling: Historic Urban Plans Box 276 Ithaca, New York 14851 (607)272-MAPS Good Luck, Eric Schmidt Cartographic Information Center Universtiy of Tennessee [log in to unmask] ------------------------------------------------------------------- : Fri, 19 May 1995 12:02:28 -0700 (MST) : Linda Zellmer <[log in to unmask]> : Re: historic city map Stephen, For reproductions of city maps, I suggest that you try: Historic Urban Plans Box 276 Ithaca, NY 14851 Linda Zellmer U. of Wyoming -------------------------------------------------------- : Sat, 20 May 1995 00:34:36 -0500 [log in to unmask](Dennis McClendon) : Re: historic city map Stephen Littrell inquires >Is there a company which reproduces historic city maps and makes them >available for sale? I'm looking for a map of Nashville from the 1910's and >would be willing to purchase a reproduction. Historic Urban Plans doesn't >have what is needed and the Sanborn maps are too detailed for my user's >needs. Thanks in advance. You can get reproductions of outdated/superseded USGS maps. Call 703 860 6045. In 1910, the topo map would probably have been a 15-minute (1:63,500 scale) map, which would show very few street names. Also, the black-and-white reproduction will have distracting contour lines, which will be frequent in hilly Nashville. A better bet might be to see what's available in Nashville collections (central public library; Vanderbilt Univ.; state library) and inquire about custom reproduction or xerography of that. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Dennis McClendon, Chicago CartoGraphics [log in to unmask]
