----------------------------Original message---------------------------- We place barcodes on our maps for circulation purposes but I am concerned about the acidity level of the barcodes we use. Our head of technical services has done some checking and the only barcodes that have been suggested to us that are relatively neutral are Intermec Duratran II TTR Coated Paper Labels. However, while they are neutral, they don't seem to have any durability. We are worried that they will become unreadable very quickly. I would be curious if anyone else has addressed this problem and can suggest a source of barcodes that do not have a high acid content. Or has anyone had experience with the Intermec Duratran II TTR labels and find that they are durable enough. I did a database search of Maps- L but it appears that this topic has not been discussed before on the list. Any help you can provide would be appreciated. ******************************************************** Grace Welch Tel: (613) 562-5800, ext.3634 Map Library Fax: (613) 562-5133 University of Ottawa 65 University Private Ottawa, Ont.
