According to NATURE v379 Jan 11 1996 Britain's Royal Geographical Society (RGS) voted to drop the Shell Oil company as one of the society's four corporate patrons in protest at its operations in Nigeria. The RGS' other patrons are British Airways, Land Rover and Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank Holdings. The vote was 204 for, 10 against.
