It is only available now at http://pubs.usgs.gov/publications/index.html One message also said that USGS hoped to publish the 1995 annual in paper. ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ >Subject: New publications of the U.S. Geological Survey >Author: Maps and Air Photo Systems Forum <[log in to unmask]> at SOS08410 >Date: 8/23/96 4:20 PM ----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Fellow map librarians, Ummm, am I the last one to know...since I am not a documents librarian...??? Is the hard copy no longer available for the New Publiccations of the US Geological Survey? Last one we saw was July 1995. Help! We use this as a selection tool, and need to have access to it. What is my alternative. USGS has not printed the paper copy of the Pubs list since last July. Electronic versions of each month are on their home page (www.usgs.gov). Word is that budget cuts held up the printing, and _possibly_ they will be printed in the future. In a newsletter dated July 1996 to their Business Partners (formerly known as map dealers) they wrote: "Due to budgetary constraints, the monthly publication of "New Publications of the US Geological Survey" had been suspended with the last issue in August 1995. Funding has been approved and it will be printed in the future but we have no time frame as to when that may be....This publication is also available through the Internet. URL address: http://pubs.usgs.gov/publications/index.html" I do not know of anyone who received a paper copy of Aug. 1995. My copies, and several others in Tucson, end with July 1995. Did anyone receive August? Hope this helps. -------- Diane Murray, Librarian Tucson Earth Science Information Center 340 North 6th Ave., Tucson, AZ 85705-8325 520-670-5584 (phone), 520-670-5591 (fax) ---------------------------------------------------------- >Date: Fri, 23 Aug 1996 16:38:43 -0700 (PDT) >From: Kathleen Trevitt-Clark <[log in to unmask]> >Subject: Re: New publications of the U.S. Geological Survey Hi Alice- As far as I know "New Publications of the U.S. Geological Survey" in now located of the USGS's Home page at http://www.usgs.gov Hope this is true, I haven't had time to check it out as we are shifting our aerial photo collections this summer, and they have just wired my computer so I can "reach out".
