----------------------------Original message---------------------------- There are a couple of different products produced by AutoMap - AutoRoute Express of G.B. and AutoRoute Express of U.K.+Ireland, but these are based on 1:250,000 scale mapping. There are equivalent cd's for Belgium, Finland, Europe, Germany, Austria, Australia, etc. One reason there is not a Street Atlas USA equivalent for the U.K. are the high copyright fees that commercial companies have to pay OS for using their base maps - they are free here. Another problem is the size of the market. I heard a figure at a mapping convention that there were (in Feb. 1996) 500,000 cd-rom drives installed in the UK while at the same time there were 12 million in the USA - a huge difference in market size. I would think that the British AA would eventually come out with a detailed routeplanner cd.
