----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Does anyone from you, cartographic publishing professionals, know about fonts which are specially suitable for cartographic names and labels? It is my humble conclusion that there exists NO professional font for sale which has been designed especially for cartographic use! Anyone to proof the contrary? (the only I've found so far is the one designed and owned by The National Geographic Society). I am in the layout process for publishing maps in several scales and sizes and I found, that the usual digital fonts (Times, Bodoni, Universal, etc.) are either too fat or too meager and kerning is not adapted to the special requirements of maps (background graphics, curved and widened long names, etc.). Any proposals? Yours, --- Stefan Keller, GIS specialist, Promotor of INTERLIS - the geodata modelling and zero-loss transfer language
