I am de-lurking to say I'm grateful too.  I am printing out and saving all
the helpfully detailed responses from experienced map catalogers and will
use the time estimates to calculate how long it will take to catalog our map
collection.  My boss suggested that I just "catalog a map or two now and
then," and pretty soon the several-thousand-item collection will be
done--details on the process from those who know more than I do are very
helpful in figuring out just how to do that!  So thanks a lot.    Ellen
