Gary,
I (and about 1400 others) attended the 18th International Cartographic
Congress in Stockholm, June 97. The international map exhibition included
two plastic relief models produced by the Italian Istituto Geographico
Militare, Firenze: La Marmolade 1:25 000 and Aosta 1:50 000 both 1996. This
organisation (and I believe its catalogue which includes a large amount of
plastic relief mapping) is on the internet although I do not have the
address to hand. The snail mail address is:

IGMI
Via C.Battisti 10
50122 Firenze
Italy.

The exhibition catalogue states that the maps were produced using DTMs and
an `automatic profiling machine' so they are obviously high tech and may
have some technical information/specifications available.

Good hunting
