----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Dear Jon and others interested in Axion's 3D atlas. Axion Spatial Imaging Ltd is located at: 700 - 9925 109 St. Edmonton, AB Canada T5K 2J8 Phone: (403)423-4413 Fax: (403)423-4468 e-mail: [log in to unmask] Web pages do not give information on 3D atlas. http://www.edt.gov.ab.ca/techfiles/dbf/111.htm http://abbott.ccm.emr.ca/iacg/gis/ind/n026n.htm The second web page lists their old address, but tells a bit about the system they developed to do some of what you will see on the CD atlas. The company was responsible for some scenes in an ape movie called Congo. They scanned the Univ. of Alberta's copies of the Ruanda-Urundi 1:100,000 and 1:200,000 series to create digital landscapes. Several weeks ago they gave demonstrations of the product at a local bookstore. I didn't have very long to play with the product but was not happy with the maps at maximum magnification. It does have some neat gee-whiz things about it. A cartographer and fellow member of the Edmonton Map Society did buy a copy and said that, in his opinion it was great for his kids. I'll ask about getting a review copy and getting a proper review of the contents and capabilities. Hope this helps. Ron Whistance-Smith.
