----------------------------Original message---------------------------- The Boston Map Society is pleased to announce the publication of its official newsletter edited by Joseph Garver of the Harvard Map Collection. The newsletter includes a review of the recent 'Maps of Steel' exhibit; announcement of the upcoming ICHC New England conference; a member's report on a Babylonian tablet at the British Library, a review of David Weaver's recent presentation; a review of the Society's history going back to the Cartophiles; a review of Internet sites; and a listing of new reference volumes. And all of this is available as a member of the Society and enquiries may be sent to the address below. The Society also is pleased to announce its upcoming 'Map Bazaar' scheduled for February 10, 1998, 5:30 pm. at the Harvard Map Collection. This annual gathering encourages members to bring a map in their collection that they wish to know more about and as a means for collectors to become familiar with our reference collection. We are never sure what may come through the door and we have seen such items as: a manuscript atlas of China, a "half-a-map" of the Holy Land, shell charts of the Pacific, and early maps of the Antarctic! **************************************************************************** David A.
