----------------------------Original message---------------------------- This seems like it should be straight-forward but flailing around in our government documents (we're only a partial depository and don't have 19th c. things from the Naval Observatory, the C&GS or the proceeding of the 1884 prime meridian conference),the Web, and our books on longitude / time / cartography I haven't come up with an answer. The patron is working in a federal office with some 19th c. surveys measured from the Washington meridian. He needs an exact longitude (from Greenwich) of the Washington meridian. I can find longitude in h,m,s for various late 19th c. atsronomical instruments and the 1893 observatory building.
