Another source that folks interested in detailed nautical charts and other bathymetric products should keep in mind is the publishing arm of the Russian (former Soviet) Navy, GUNiO. (GUNiO = Main Directorate for Navigation and Oceanography.) These people produce fantastic charts on a worldwide basis, and they are kept very up to date as a rule. Most are in Russan, but increasingly more are fully bilingual in English-Russian. Virtually all navigable water bodies in the world are covered, including many inland waterways. The scales range from the very small (1:2 million) to the very large (over 1000 port plans at scales 1:5000 and 1:10,000). Although GUNiO is supposed to deposit everything it publsihed with the IHO in Monaco, this does not happen in practice. And for many parts of the world (especially Russian Arctic and Pacific waters, as well as the Caspian) GUNiO charts may be the only ones available. We sell them all, and have about three years of experience with these products. Please contact us for additional information at [log in to unmask] or see our website at www.eastview.com.
