----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Maps-L Folks, There has been some discussion of the new LandView III CD-ROM set on the GOVDOC-L listserv. It consists of 11 CD-ROM discs and contains documentation in PDF file format on the discs (which can be printed out). Discs 1-10 were distributed to U.S. Federal Depository Libraries under item number 0431-R-03 on shipping list 98-0025-E. To quote from the record in OCLC, "LandView III is a desktop mapping system ... jurisdictional boundaries; detailed networks of roads, rivers, and railroads; census block group and tract polygons; and schools, hospitals, churches, cemeteries, airports, dams, and other landmark features. ... U.S. Summary is Disc 11." We have not received disc 11 yet, but these look like they should be of interest to map libraries. Disc 1 includes data for ME,NH,VT,MA,CT, RI,NY,NJ,PA,DE,MD,DC, but did not have room for all of the PDF files. Apparently, to look at the full set of instructions, you may want to look at one of the other discs. John Stevenson University of Delaware Library Newark, DE 19717-5267 [log in to unmask] - email
