I use the engineering tubes described - however, they are expensive if you
need several, andinvariably you either don't have enough or aren't where you
need them.
I didn't see anything in the replies about one of my suppliers, so - here it
is if of interest:

They sell all sorts of packing, shipping and mailing materials including
round, triangular and square drawing/map tubes.
In particular - two products I like:
snap seal tubes that pinch closed (cheap & easy to open with out damage to
contents) - the 3-inch x 42 inch long size is around a buck a piece in
quantities of 50 or more.
Square tubes - great for storage of rolled documents - they come in 3 & 5 inch
diameters.
they also have several other options.
You might want to request their catalog.
We've had decent luck with them

A source for the plastic tubes is Gravenhurst Plastics, Gravenhurst,
Ontario, Canada 705-687-6628. The plastic tubes are actually fishing pole
tubes which can expand to various lenghts. Very strong and sturdy. Hope this
