----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Hi, In case anyone else is interested in knowing sources of information to answer questions similar to the one a patron asked us last week about the location of an English monastery, I'd like to forward to the List the two very helpful responses I received from gracious people in the map community far, far away. Thank you both so much! Jane Carlson University of Iowa 1) Dear Jane, Cassell's Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland (1897) states: "Parkminster: pl[ace]., pa[rish] of Cowfold, Mid Sussex. Here is St. Hugh's Carthusuan Monastery" - and it certainly shows up on the O.S. Maps. Grid ref. for Parkminster Farm is TQ2020. Hope this helps.
