Hello All,

Just off the AP Newswire--"The Supreme Court has ruled that
Ellis Island - the historic gateway for millions of immigrants - is
mainly in New Jersey. From now on, most of the island in New York Harbor
must be considered Ellis Island, N.J., the high court ruled 6-3 in
resolving a border dispute between New Jersey and New York."

In other words, according to the US Supreme Court, the bulk of Ellis
Island (the area that was filled after the 1834 compact between New York
and New Jersey) now officially belongs to New Jersey, NOT New York.
Their decision states "New Jersey has sovereign authority over the
filled land added to the original Island." The full decison can be
viewed at http://supct.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/120ORIG.ZS.html

People using browsers that are not Java Script enabled can view
