----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Cross-posted to MAPS-L and AUTOCAT. The ALCTS CCS/MAGERT Map Cataloging Discussion Group will continue its ALA Midwinter '98 topic, the cataloging of cartographic CD-ROMs and computer disks, at the '98 Annual ALA Conference in D.C. Examples will be provided to stimulate discussion of notes for electronic cartographic resources plus whether a mixed-media collection containing electronic cartographic resources was appropriately cataloged as a kit. Please bring your own questions, comments and examples, too. If time and interest allow, we'll discuss LCs Guidelines for Distinguishing Cartographic Materials on Computer File Carriers from other Materials on Computer File Carriers (see: http://lcweb.loc.gov/marc/cfmap.html). Are you using the Guidelines? What is your opinion of them? The Maps Cataloging Discussion Group provides a forum for both beginning and expert maps catalogers to discuss the basic issues relating to bibliographic control of maps and related materials. Meeting time and place: Sunday, June 28, 8:00-9:00 a.m. in the Oak Room at the Washington Courtyard. *************************************** Kay G.
