----------------------------Original message---------------------------- This was posted by Larry Romans to GovDoc-L. Passage of this revision to the American Library Association By-Laws means that some large round tables (e.g., the Government Documents Round Table) will now have direct representation on ALA Council. Smaller round tables, such as the Map and Geography Round Table will share a general round table representative. As such, it is good news for American Library Association members whose professional interests are better represented by round tables than divisions. Following the American Library Association annual meeting in Washington this summer, GODORT will be distributing a ballot to its members as to whether they may choose to dissolve the Government Documents Round Table in order to become a part of ASCLA, the Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies.
