It's not really a tape - its more like a rubber cement on a backing paper. The paper is removed after applying to the first sheet of mylar. I think the tape can even be ordered in different grades of aggressiveness. On the inside of the rolls I have on hand, is the marking "United Mfrs. Supplies, Inc., Syosset, N.Y. 11791 Your one source for framing needs." You could try to find them direct, or you can order it from Ken Clark at Office Products in Berlin, NH 603-752-6464. I'm not sure how important it is to have the acid free adhesive, since the map never really touches the tape/adhesive, and there is plenty of ventilation, but I still take the extra precaution. Oh, I should mention that the scraps of Mylar-D I usually have left over after a sleeving/encapsulation project, make great book covers! I've never heard of the glue gun adhesive thing, but it would seem the paper backed adhesive is a much better solution. Hope this helps.
