Good morning and happy "Nearly Spring"!!

Below you will find a Preliminary Program for this year's 12th Annual North
East Map Organization Meeting, to be held at Wellesley College, near Boston, on
June 3rd and 4th, 1999. David Cobb recently brought to my attention that a
similar regional meeting called "GIS '99" and sponsored by URISA, amongst
others, will be held in Sturbridge, just down the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90)
from Wellesley on June 1st and 2nd. I'd like to extend an invitation to those
of you attending the GIS '99 conference to stop in for one or both days of the
NEMO meeting.

The featured speaker this year is Dr. Herm di Blij, eminent Geographer,
Professor of Geography, a prolific author of many books and articles on topics
in geography, and Geography Editor for the "Good Morning America" television
program. Dr. di Blij also made a series of appearances in the PBS Series "The
Power of Place" in 1996.

A separate mailing including a flyer with registration information, Wellesley
College campus map, and list of hotel accommodations will be sent to all
present and past NEMO members in the coming 2-3 weeks. At that time I will
also post a final program to MAPS-L.
