Few, however, have realized such a product. One of the most common roadblocks to developing endorsed data sets is the issue of data certification. How does an organization, select, assess and endorse a corporate data set? What are the liabilities and benefits of data certification? As the NSDI Framework effort continues, reaching further into the data resources of state and local governments, issues of data certification loom. The Louisiana Geographic Information Center (LAGIC) with support from the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) and the Louisiana Geographic Information Systems Council (LGISC) is exploring data certification. The objectives of the study are to identify the key technical and administrative issues surrounding data certification and to construct variable implementation strategies for addressing the issues. Your participation is needed. A 'User Perceptions Survey' is posted at: http://lagic.lsu.edu/survey.asp The survey consists of six short questions and is aimed at individual user perceptions - multiple respondents from the same organization are welcomed. At the end of the survey, participants are encouraged to join the program review committee by providing basis contact information. A summary of responses will be posted to this email list. If you have specific questions about the project, contact me directly at the email/phone listed below. Your participation in the data certification project is needed and appreciated, Lynda -- Lynda Wayne, Director Louisiana Geographic Information Center (LAGIC) E302 Howe-Russell Louisiana State University Baton Rouge, LA 70803 Phone 225.388.3479 / FAX 225.388.5328 [log in to unmask] --- End Forwarded Message ---
