Well more or less! The new SLA Virtual Annual Conference web site is up and running at WWW.sla.org. Click on "Conference and Meetings", then 1999 Conference. You need adobe to use the schedule planner, but that can be downloaded free if you need it. You will need a user name and password, then you can access information by event, time, SLA unit, etc. The system is very word specific. If you enter "Field Trip" you will not find the SLA G&M Thursday event listed. You will find it by entering "excursion". If you would like a paper copy of the preliminary program, they are still available to members at: Special Libraries Association Annual Conference Registration PO Box 75338 Baltimore, MD 21275 The "Early Bird" Registration deadline had been extended to May 1st due to delays by the US Postal Service in delivering the paper copies. So if you have not renewed or have been thinking of joining SLA, now is the time to save money by joining and getting the best rate for the conference in Minneapolis. This promises to be a major event, given the location and time of year. Become a "Knowledge Leader for the New Millennium" and come away with bags of useful materials from the best library exhibition in the field. (Many jealous comments from those who attended the other library meeting through the years have attested to the last statement!) What at you waiting for? Join now and have input toward the 2000 Philadelphia Conference and 2001 San Antonio Conference, the 60th Anniversary of the Geography and Map Division! For more information contact Chairman Bruce Obenhaus ([log in to unmask]) or Membership Chairman David McQuillan ([log in to unmask]).
