It can be viewed at <http://www.sunysb.edu/libmap/magert1.htm> (click on "meetings and conferences") There have been changes and additions in the extra-curricular part of our program--that which is not listed in the official ALA program (also known as the "fun" part). Our Friday night reception will be held in the courtyard of the Hotel St. Marie (527 Toulouse Street), which is right around the corner from the official MAGERT hotel, the Prince Conti. For those who want to stay at the Prince Conti, I understand that there may still be a few rooms available, although the deadline for reserving them is past. It is a nice hotel at a reasonable price in a good location--worth a phone call to see if you can still get a reservation. We will also be featuring a tour of the Historic New Orleans Collection and a presentation on their Atlas of Louisiana project. This will be on Monday, June 28, starting at 11:30 a.m. The museum is known, among other things, for its outstanding collection of historic maps. Finally, we plan to conclude the conference with a trip to the Matthew Fontaine Maury Oceanographic Library at the Stennis Space Center. We will leave the Prince Conti at 12 p.m. and take a bus to the library in nearby Mississippi. The Space Center is noted for its advanced imaging projects and other high tech mapping applications. Following the tour, we will enjoy a dinner at a Cajun restaurant, and return to New Orleans in the evening. Please send me an e-mail message by June 15 if you plan to attend (we need an approximate head count). --- End Forwarded Message ---
