Considering that they have a standardized format, a standard form for the titles, same publisher, etc, and that they really do seem to be "intended by the producer to form a single group," I was expecting for a single record for the series to show up (even though the series title will have to be supplied by the cataloger) with a 3201 in the 052. Will this perhaps happen when the entire country is done, so a complete 505 field can be made? Does anyone agree with me that these maps might be more useful if viewed as a series covering the US and classed together rather than as separate maps? (Yes, I know that searching an online catalog almost makes classification unnecessary, and that people will find anything wherever it is, but I'm old fashioned. :) thanks, Mark ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Mark Thomas / Public Documents & Maps / Perkins Library Duke University / Durham, NC 27708-0177 [log in to unmask] / voice: 919-660-5853 / FAX: 919-684-2855 The train ... traditional, yet environmentally sound. --Lisa Simpson --- End Forwarded Message ---
