Scholarships for Study Abroad

Several study abroad programs have scholarships specifically designated for
UGA students. To qualify for these scholarships, you must be going on the
program that sponsors the scholarship. Applications are now available for
summer scholarships for programs through Academic Programs International,
American InterContinental University, International Studies Abroad, and the
University of New Orleans Innsbruck program. Some application deadlines are
as early as February 15. If you plan on attending one of these programs
this summer and would like an application or more information, please

Study Abroad Program Representative Visits

Any undergraduate students interested in spending a semester or full year
abroad in England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Costa Rica,
Argentina, or Chile should plan on attending an information session on
Friday, February 4 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in room 145 of the Tate
Student Center. Steve Seaworth from the Institute for Study Abroad at
Butler University will be available to talk about fully integrated programs
at various universities in the above countries. This will be a drop in
session, so feel free to come by when ever you are available. If you are
not able to attend the information session but would like information,
please drop by the Study Abroad Library in 209 Barrow Hall or call The
Institute for Study Abroad directly at 800-858-0229. SCHOLARSHIPS ARE
AVAILABLE!!!

On Thursday, February 10th, Marilyn Hubbard, Southern Program
Representative for the Beaver College Center for Education Abroad, will
visit campus.  She will be available to share information about Beaver's
programs and answer questions from 3:30-5:00 p.m. in Room 215 Barrow Hall.
The Beaver College Center for Education Abroad is one of the oldest and
largest study abroad programs in the country.  They work with over 60
universities and special programs in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland,
Australia, Italy,  Mexico, Spain, Austria, and Greece. Information on their
programs is available in the Study Abroad Library in 209 Barrow Hall, from
the Beaver web site <http://www.beaver.edu/cea> or by calling
1-888-BEAVER-9 (1-888-232-8379).

Tony Barrett, a representative of the Australian Education Connection (AEC)
will be visiting the University of Georgia on Friday, February 11th. He
will be available to speak to students between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2
p.m. in Room 154 of the Tate Student Center. The AEC provides a guarantee
that it offers the most affordable option for direct enrollment in semester
and year abroad programs in Australia. The AEC office provides students
with support from the point of application until the period that they begin
orientation in Australia, including individualized advising, application
and enrollment and assistance with subject selection and credit transfer,
financial aid, accommodation, visa, predeparture, on-arrival and
orientation. There are no costs associated with using the AEC as Australian
universities provide funding for the AEC.

The Office of International Education at Central Michigan University is
looking for a Study Abroad Advisor. Applicants must have a bachelor's
degree in a related area; one year of experience in study abroad advising;
a high level of interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills;
knowledge of foreign educational systems; cross-cultural sensitivity; and
