International Student Life Announcements
========================================
1. The ISL office is pleased to welcome Ms. Leigh Poole, formerly of
Columbia, South Carolina, as our new Student Advisor. Ms. Poole will
take the position formerly held by Marcus Longmuir on August 1st. We
are excited about the addition of Leigh to our staff, and invite you to
join the excitement by coming to the ISL office to welcome Leigh.

2. The Global Discussion Series held in the ISL Lounge was started in
Spring 2000 to provide a small, close-knit atmosphere for all students
to discuss issues of interest on an international level. The students
usually gather to listen and share their own insights and perspectives
while sipping hot tea. The discussions have ranged from sweatshop
workers in Latin America, the meeting of Eastern and Western Music, the
political change in Austria, U.S. student experiences in Serbia and
China, and the political situation of farmers in Zimbabwe. The
discussions will begin on Wednesday, September 6th, and continue every
Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. 6:00 p.m. Please note that due to UGA
vacation, there will be no discussion on November 22nd.

Anyone who is interested volunteering to be a speaker on an issue that
is of global interest to UGA's international community are encourage to
contact the ISL office.
