International Student Life events
=================================
1. The International Student Life Office and World Ambassadors are
excited to host the first coffee hour of the academic year Friday,
August 18th in the Memorial Hall Ballroom. Please join us between 11:30
a.m. and 1:30 p.m. for an opportunity to taste food from a different
part of the world as well as to socialize with around 200 students. We
look forward to seeing you every Friday!

2.  International Student Orientation is going on this week, August 13th
- 16th.  All new incoming international students are encouraged to
attend this orientation. Schedule: August 13th - Settling In, August
14th - Immediate Needs 1, August 15th - Immediate Needs 2, August 16th -
Life in the USA.  You can go to the ISL website for at www.uga.edu/isl
for a detailed schedule. There is no fee for this orientation.

3. The ISL office will be offering Campus Tours to new international
students on Tuesday, August 15th, meet at Memorial Hall side of bus
stop, ever hour from 1 to 4 p.m.

4. The ISL would like to WELCOME the new international students on
campus.  If you are a new student or know of a student that needs help
and/or guidance, please direct them to the ISL office. We are ready and
willing to help.

5.  Need assistance in getting around to look for housing?  Contact the
ISL office and we will assist you.


Office of International Education Announcements
================================================
1.  August 14-18, 2000:  Regular scheduled Walk-ins for August 14th and
16th have been canceled.  Immigration Services will be seeing new
International Students and Emergencies only during this week.  OPT has
been canceled for August 15th and 17th.  J's and H1B's Walk-in will
 be held on August 18th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.  August 21-25, 2000
regular scheduled walk-in times will resume this week.  OPT has been
canceled for August 22th and 24th.

Other University Events
========================
1. A sneak preview of the release of "Spinal Tap" will be held  at the
Tate Theater, Friday, August 18 . Pick up passes the  day of show the
beginning at 9 am at the Tate Center Cashier's Window.  Limit 2 passes
per person.  Free! Sponsored by the Cinematic Arts.

2.  August 21-25, Prolific Art Galleries, Ltd., will hold exhibitions
and sales of fine art prints and posters from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm at the
Tate Gallery.
