Welcome Back World Traveler Series

Join the Office of International Education for its "Welcome Back World
Traveler Series." The following workshops and presentations are designed to
assist UGA's World Travelers in their transition home from abroad.
Participate in any or all of the sessions! No RSVP necessary! For more
information please call the Office of International Education at 542-7903.

Managing Re-Entry And Reverse Culture Shock
Monday, August 26th from 7-9 pm in 215B Barrow Hall
A roundtable discussion and series of exercises to assist students with
re-entry.

You're Back! Now What Do You Do?
Tuesday, August 27th from 5:30-7 pm in 215B Barrow Hall
A roundtable discussion and exercise for students to realize the skills
they have developed while abroad and help them to apply those skills on
campus by making them aware of international involvement opportunities
available on campus.

Sharing Study Abroad Stories And Photos Over Lunch
Tuesday, September 10th from 11:30-1:30 pm in 215B Barrow Hall
Bring your own lunch! Returned students can bring their photos and
scrapbooks to share their experiences with others and with interested study
abroad students.

Intern, Work, And Volunteer Abroad Opportunities
Wednesday, September 25th from 5-7 pm in 215B Barrow Hall
A presentation on internship, volunteer, and work abroad opportunities
available to students.

Marketing Your International Experience
Thursday, October 10th from 3:30-5:30 pm in 215B Barrow Hall
An exercise for students to realize the marketable skills they have
developed while abroad and help them to put those skills on their resume.

Got The Fever? Go Abroad Again!
Monday, October 21st 5-6:30 pm in 215B Barrow Hall
Learn about the benefits of studying abroad on longer programs.

Student Council on Globalization (SCOG) - First Meeting August 28th

SCOG is a club of U.S. students (who have studied abroad or are planning to
study abroad) and international students. The club's purpose is to bring
together U.S. and international students to organize international and
social events, as well as promote study abroad and raise money for study
abroad and international student scholarships. Last year, we organized a
photo contest, international silent auction and several movie nights, as
well as gave out 6 $250 scholarships. The first fall meeting will be held
from 4:40 p.m. to about 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28th in 215B Barrow
Hall. At that time, we will be electing officers of the organization. There
are five officer positions, 3 of which are open to U.S. students: Co-Chair,
Secretary and Social Chair. If you are interested in running for an officer
position and are energetic and enthusiastic, please reply and I will send
you more information about the responsibilities of each position. If you

Announcements from International Student Life

Campus Coffee Hour Returns! Coffee Hour is an ISL event held every Friday
from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Memorial Hall Ballroom. The event
introduces students, faculty and staff to national and international music
and cultures as well as to international cuisine. Coffee Hour is hosted by
different International Organizations, UGA student organizations, UGA
Departments and Community Groups. Meet interesting people from around the
World! Enjoy American and Ethnic foods! Spend time with ISL! Sip Coffee
or drink lemonade! There is NO charge for this event. The first Coffee
Hour of the semester will occur on Friday, August 23, and is sponsored by
the International Student Life Office and the World Ambassadors. We hope
to see you there!

Do you get enjoy meeting, greeting and helping people? Then the Global
Friends Peer Mentor program might just be for you. Global Friends is an
organization that helps new international students become more acclimated
to UGA and the Athens Community. For more information contact the

Exhibition: At Home and Abroad: Japan and Japonisme. Sponsored by the
Georgia Museum of Art. Features a selection of Japanese prints by artists
like Hokusai and Hiroshige, alongside European and American paintings and
prints by Whistler, Toulouse-Lautrec, and Mary Cassatt, among others, that
reveal the lasting impact of Japanese culture on printmaking and the
decorative arts. Through Sunday, October 6, 2002. Georgia Museum of Art.

Exhibition: Bunzlauer Style: German Pottery from Jugendstil to Art Deco.
Sponsored by the Georgia Museum of Art. This ware takes its name from the
primary center of its production, the Silesian town of Bunzlau, now the
Polish town of Bolestawiec. Through a selection of functional pottery
including plates, bowls, pitchers, and vases from a private American
collection, this exhibition presents the history of Bunzlauer pottery,
focusing on how it reflects changing design principles in early
20th-century Germany. Through Sunday, October 6, 2002. Georgia Museum of
