Scholarships for Study Abroad

Applications are now being accepted for the following scholarships and
grants through the Rotary Foundation. Application must be made to your
local Rotary Club (here in Athens or your permanent home). Please verify
with your local club that they are offering the scholarship before applying.
 * 2004-05 Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships - This program
provides Academic-year, Multi-year, and Cultural scholarships to study
abroad. Recipients are expected to be outstanding ambassadors of goodwill

UGA Exchange in Brazil/$3000 Living Stipend

The Brazil-US Consortium in Agroecology is seeking students with Portuguese
language skills (at least 1 academic year of
coursework) to participate in a student exchange between the University of
Georgia and our partners in Brazil: Universidade Federal Rural de
Pernambuco, and Universidade Federal do Pará. Students who speak Spanish
and are willing to learn Portuguese are also welcome.

If you are selected to participate, we have a grant from the U.S.
Department of Education's FIPSE (Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary
Education) that will allow us to pay you a stipend of up to $3000 for your
living expenses. With the assistance of your advisor and the Office of
International Education, we can also help to ensure that you will earn
credit from UGA for the courses you take in Brazil.

Our consortium is focused on the economic, agricultural and environmental
viability and sustainability of northeastern
Brazil. Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco is located in the coastal
town of Recife, while Universidade Federal do Pará is in Belém, at the
Amazon frontier. Both of these institutions offer courses in the social,
physical, and life sciences, as well as in policy, history, and culture.
Any major is welcome. You can find further information on the Brazil-US
Consortium in Agroecology at http://www.uga.edu/int-ag/brazil-us.html.
