1. Dia de la Raza/Native Peoples Day, Wednesday, October 12, 9:00 AM - 3:00
PM on the Tate Plaza sponsored by Students for Latino Empowerment. Special
performance by The Plainsmen, a Native American Indian dance group. They
will perform at 11:00 AM and 12:00 AM.

2. Wednesday, October 12, 5:01 PM, Rm 238 Memorial Hall. International
Education Week and World Fest Planning meeting. It is still not too late to
volunteer during IEW week and World Fest. Planning meeting starts at 5:01
PM, Room 238 Memorial Hall.

3. Wednesday, Oct 12, @ 8:30 pm in SLC Rm 269. P B & J with Athens for
Justice in Palestine, Our first meeting of the semester, come discuss the
current situation in the occupied territories and help us organize events
for this semester including hosting Michael Tarazi, Rev. Fahed Akel,
Comedian Ray Hania, and plan movie screenings and the Mock Wall
Demonstration.....all while enjoying free peanut butter and jelly
sandwiches.

4. Wednesday, October 12, 7:00 PM, Room 205, Memorial Hall, (ISL temporary
Office on back hall in old Dean of Students area). First Tea Talk of the
semester. This is an event that ISL holds once a month in which a member of
our community comes in to discuss global issues. This week we will have
Anya Hamrick here discussing the problems that Russia has been having with
their orphanage system. Anya will share with us her personal experience and
knowledge concerning this growing issue. Please join us for tea, cookies
and
discussion!! Free, just bring an open mind and any questions you might have
concerning this topic. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday!! If you

5. Friday, October 14, RECEPTION HALL of the Tate Student Center. Baptist
Student Union will host this week's Coffee Hour. Come out and enjoy free
food, lemonade and fun!

6. Russian Movie Night, Friday, October 14 viewing Dzhanik Faiziyev's
"Turetskiy gambit" or "Turkish Gambit." The film is based on Boris Akunin's
book, focusing on the adventures of Erast Petrovich Fandorin. According to
IMBd (Online Film Database), "Turkish Gambit" "surpassed 'Nochnoy Dozor,' or
'Nightwatch' (2004) in March 2005 to become the highest-grossing movie in
post-communist Russia,
earning approx. $20,000,000 to date (April 2005). As of 22 February 2005,
"Turkish Gambit" has had the widest release in post-communist Russia, having

7. Saturday, October 15, 6:00 pm, Memorial Hall Ballroom, The Indian
Student Association(ISA)welcomes you to "Garba Nite 2005". Garba festival
exhibits light,color,folk dancing and music. So,ISA together with the Athens
Indian community brings Garba Nite on Oct 15th. It will be a perfect time
for everyone to have an insight on Indian culture/dressing,dancing and free
authentic food.

8. Tue, Oct 25 @ 8:00 pm in SLC RM 171. Athens for Justice in Palestine
presents Special Guest Speaker: Michael Tarazi. Michael Tarazi is a lawyer
with the Palestinian Liberation Organization who provides legal advice to
the Negotiations Affairs Department on a wide array of issues. He is an
American born Palestinian Christian who obtained his education from Harvard
Law School and he has made recent appearances on CNN, ABC, NBC, and BBC and
Mr.Tarazi has also been published in the New York Times. This is a rare
opportunity to be able and ask questions to a Palestinian negotiator who
splits his time between Ramallah and New York. Contact

for Colored People) meeting on Tuesday, October 11th, at
6 PM in the Student Learning Center rm. 268. Refreshments will be served.

2. Noche Latina. Sponsored by the Hispanic Student Association. Immerse
yourself in the Hispanic culture enjoying its music and food. Performances
by the UGA Breakdance Group, Lupita Sosa's Mexican Ballet, Lambda Theta
Alpha and Lambda Theta Phi. Cost is $5 UGA students/$8 non-students. Friday,
